#Not1More Deportation

Jonathan: DOMA Struck Down

We are happy today that DOMA was struck down and will allow many same sex couples to have the ability to marry. But for me as an undocuqueer I can’t help but think about the massive deportations that have destroyed our communities, the criminalization of the Queer and Transgender community, the increasing HIV/AIDS rates in immigrant communities and the suicide rates amongst our youth. There is time to celebrate and I understand that, but I think we have had enough of the LGBTQ organizations continue to ignore the LGBT immigrants and narrow our issues to binational couples and fail to address the deaths of LGBTQ youth and people due to violence at home, in the streets and on the US/mexico border. My biggest worry now is that people like my undocuqueer friend Alfredo who has court today will be deported and no LGBTQ organization will sign his petition as we have seen through out his campaign and instead focus on campaigns that prioritize the issues of white upper/middle class LGBTQ people.

Please help Alfredo Reyes
