#Not1More Deportation

Grandfather and Community Leader Detained without Criminal Charges: Free Salvador now!

Update 4/10/14: Salvador has been released.  Thanks for all your support!

Salvador Perez-Valdez, a grandfather and community leader, was picked up by Border Patrol in Tucson on his way home from work. He has no criminal charges and no prior deportations. The only reason he is held in Tucson Station right now is for charges of “no status” – for not having documents.

Salvador has lived in Phoenix for 21 years. He and his wife, Martha, have three children: Samantha, 23; Luis, 22, a U.S. resident; and Ricardo, 15, a U.S. citizen. They also have four grandchildren, all U.S. citizens, living in Phoenix: Angel, 5; Ania, 3; Iselda, 4; and Luis, 1. Salvador is not only the loving father and grandfather of a big family in Phoenix, he has also been a leader in his community, organizing his neighbors and others in Phoenix through Puente Arizona.

Salvador’s arrest is a shameful example of Border Patrol terrorizing our community without cause, detaining a hard-working grandfather just for driving home from work. Salvador should be home with his children and grandchildren tonight, not sitting in Tucson Station on the whims of Border Patrol.

Tell ICE not to collaborate with Border Patrol in bullying our community! Free Salvador!
