#Not1More Deportation

Take Action for the Release of These LGBT Immigrants in Detention

The organizations and individuals working with the #Not1more campaign are asking for support for these cases of LGBTQ immigrants in detention or facing imminent deportation.

Please sign to the right to send an e-mail to ICE or each of the targets, in support of these individuals. Every e-mail and call we make to immigration enforcement lets them know that cares about them staying in the country they consider home.

Hugo-n1mHugo is a Salvadoran, HIV+ man who fears persecution and death if he is deported. He has lived in the US for over 31 years, is a volunteer at a community organization helping homeless youth, and is part of his community in Houston, Texas. He has a drug-related arrest from 7 years ago — the arrest that led him to turn his life around. He is detained at the Houston Contract Detention Facility and could be deported at any time. You can also call the Houston field office at (218) 774-4816.

YordyYordy is a young gay leader, who graduated 2nd in his class in high school. He is also the founder and president of his Gay-Straight Alliance. Yordy left the US after he couldn’t afford to continue going to school, but faced violence and harassment in his home country. Right now he is detained at an immigration detention center, after attempting to come back to the US. His credible fear interview was finally accepted, and he was given a bond. Sylvie Lobato, Tacoma ICE Field office,

I am a community member who is concerned with the detention and deportation of Miguel Angel Armenta Olabarria (A# 076-343-950). Miguel is an immigrant being held at the Nortwest Detention Center. He is living with cancer, hepatitis C, and HIV, and he is not receiving proper care at the detention center.

Every day he remains in detention his life is at increased risk. I urge you to grant him immediate humanitarian release. His husband of 6 years is looking for help to bring him home and be able to give him the care he needs. Please take a minute and make that call.

Please use prosecutorial discretion to release him from detention.

I am writing because I am concerned about the removal of Mr. Hugo Castro Perez (A 205-908-999). Mr. Castro Perez has lived in the United States for most of his life, for over 31 years. He is a Salvadoran gay man, who is also HIV positive and fears returning to his country of birth. He has been in custody at the Houston Contract Detention Facility for over 8 months, and could be deported soon.

I understand that he has some negative factors in his case, including non-violent misdemeanor convictions, including some related to drugs. As I understand it, he has re-habilitated and is now an involved community member. Please consider using prosecutorial discretion to stop his deportation.

Thank you

Assistant Field Office Director, Kenneth C. Smith,

I am writing because I am very concerned with the deportation of Mr. Yordy Cancino (A# 206-273-497), a young LGBT immigrant from California. Mr. Cancino has lived in California since 2002, after escaping abuse with his mother and sisters from his father. Once in the United States, Mr. Cancino excelled academically, graduating with a 4.02 g.p.a and salutatorian of his class. He was also the president of the Gay Straight Alliance.

After working so hard in high school and being accepted to his dream university, he was unable to afford the $54,000 a year needed to attend. Feeling highly depressed, he felt like he had no choice but to return to Mexico to continue his studies. However, being back in Mexico has been extremely dangerous. As an out gay man, he has been attacked in Mexico, and has been victim of attempted kidnapping. In Mexico, he feared daily for his life.

Hoping to return home and escape homophobic violence, Mr. Cancino took the courageous step of placing himself into immigration custody and asking for humanitarian parole and asylum. Mr. Cancino along with other LGBTQ Dreamers are now in immigration detention in San Diego facing deportation. I urge you to please use prosecutorial discretion to stop release him from detention and grant him a stay of removal.

Thank you,

Case Updates:
