Zamira Perez Duarte (DOB: 11/6/89) was arrested at work the day before her DACA arrived in the mail.
Noemi Romero (DOB: 12/7/91) is DACA-eligible also, except for the felony charge she is facing after being arrested in Arpaio’s raid while she was working to pay her DACA application fee at Lam’s Market in January.
Both of these young women were caught up in the deportation dragnet by Arpaio and his posse and dragged deeper by Montgomery’s racist prosecutorial decisions. Now, both of their fates lie in ICE’s hands. If they lived in any other state, both Zamira and Noemi would be with their families, working or studying, looking forward to the pathway to citizenship that immigration reform would hopefully bring them. Because they live in Arizona, they are fighting against being deported and need your help!
