Liliam Cornejo-Romero (A#205-850-539) fled her home country when she was four months pregnant to search for protection f
When she came to the United States, she was intervewed by a Border Patrol agent, to whom she explained that she was a survivor of domestic violence and was afraid to return to Honduras, but she was not given the opportunity to file for political asylum. Instead they issued an expedited removal order. rom her abusive partner who frequently threatened her and her family with his gun.
Since arriving to the United States Liliam has become an active member of Women United for Justice in New Orleans. She does not have a criminal record and has greatly contributed to her organization and community. She is also seven months pregnant and has been told by her doctor that there are many risks associated with her pregnancy. Given that her hometown does not have a hospital, giving birth in Honduras would put her life and that of her child at risk.
Her deportation date is set for days before her baby is due, and immigration has asked Liliam to bring in her plane ticket back to Honduras to her next check-in.
